Niamh Donnelly gets through regional youth leadership final
18/11/2011
Congratulations to Niamh Donnelly, from St Josephs Girls School. Niamh was one of the candidates selected as a winner in the Regional Youth Leadership Awards in Limerick. As a winner she will join 21 other young persons on a trip to Belfast (Stormont), Dublin (the Dail) and The European Parliament in Strasbourg in February 2012.
The standard of the candidates this year was very high and it was a tough decision to pick just one person to represent the club in Limerick.
Niamh is a super girl, and the club members are very taken with her. Niamh lives in Ballyvary and is involved in a lot of voluntary work in the community. It is nice for her to win this competition and reward her for all her voluntary efforts.
She is a Scouts national leader, a member of Comhairle naOg Mhaigheo, Dáil naóg, the national youth Parliament of Ireland. She plays lead parts in school musicals, an honours A student and somewhere in all of this she finds time to do voluntary work in a charity shop on Saturdays. The Club will be watching this lady going into the future. She is a credit to her parents and St Josephs School.
Ms Ann Farrell, vice principal of St Josephs was very happy for Niamh.
Caroline Costello the Youth Chair organised the interviews.and liaised with Limerick-Shannon who ran the regional final. Fred Flynn, Fiona Cashin, John Horkan and Vivienne Kyne were on the interviewing panels.
The club is delighted to get a winner in this competition. Rotary Castlebar had a great success rate in this competition, but the club had taken a break for two years. So its great to be back on track and in winning form!
